NOTHING, YET EVERYTHING.

When I was in first year college I used to go to this campus nearby to have picnic alone. University of the Philippines had diverse kind of people and I would bring a little blanket, armed with a good book, pen and paper- just sit there on the sunken garden and observe the life before me. I love people watching and it was quite a treat to go there and do just that. There were singles, couples, families all up and about- people dating, playing football, group rehearsals, reviewing for a class, some just staring blankly into a space, some watching me and some watching people watching me. There were times I caught people looking at me strangely and I loved it. I loved being an enigma. I remember it to be liberating and poignant. There was a kind of joy in solitary moments like these but also that phantom sense of loneliness in solitude. I always thought it would be nice to do with somebody someday. I never had a romantic picnic. Reading a book, people watching, tinkering on something, doing nothing and yet everything with someone you love on a beautiful day- smelling the grass and earth around. Romance is an exquisite gift, ne c’est pas?

A GLIMPSE OF STAIN

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.” John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

DON'T BE RECKLESS WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S HEART...

…or you will end up breaking yours badly. Then again, “Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.” In time you shall be able to make amends, perhaps not to that person, but at least to yourself.

TENDER NUDGE TO A RAT THAT WON'T BUDGE

An unlikely friendship between a 12 year old African leopard and a 3 month old rat was forged on an ordinary feeding session at Santago Rare Leopard Project zoo in UK. A photography student captured these heartstring-tugging moment between Sheena the leopard and the nameless audacious rat. They often say “no guts no glory” and this one right here epitomized just that. Not only this rat got his fill for the day by his daring spirit, it also gained a friend- oh, and fans too all over the world. Sheena you are my hero! You may check the story here.

NO MORE FOREVERS

Today I decided I don’t want any more of those “forevers” that I grew up wishing and hoping for. From now on all I want is today- each and everyday for the rest of my life. I don’t need a love that goes on forever, just a love for a lifetime.

“Time doesn't always heal: it just breathes and swallows memories like the seasons change - sending showers; beating flowers into the mud. And nothing is forever in this place. Nothing but the way my heart fits in your hands; the held breath of hope; and the sweet lingering taste of grace.”- Unknown

I AM BUT A BLIP IN THE UNIVERSE

"At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world, six billion souls. And sometimes... all you need is one."

MY LIGHTLY CHARRED INDULGENCE

-->
Nothing beats marshmallows over burning charcoal - on a bonfire in the beach under the stars whilst hearing the splashing of the waves. I get giddy just thinking about it!

To the original owners of the images I used- Please accept my gratitude for spreading love though your art. Your works here moved me profoundly in more ways than one could imagine. Un très grand merci!
